 Membership

The NOVA Gavel Unit of Parliamentarians welcomes community leaders, board members, and individuals who are interested in learning parliamentary procedure and developing skills for conducting effective business meetings based on Robert's Rules of Order. We offer three membership types; primary, affiliate, and provisional.

Primary Member

Primary members demonstrated a basic knowledge of the fundamentals of parliamentary law and its application by successfully completing an exam based on Robert’s Rules of Order In Brief, 3rd Edition. Primary members are members of the National Association of Parliamentarian (NAP).

Affiliate Members

Affiliate members are NAP members who are primary members of another unit.

Provisional Members

Provisional members are interested in learning about parliamentary procedure and preparing for NAP membership. Provisional members are not members of the NAP. To become a member of NAP, you will have to pass a membership exam on the basics of parliamentary procedure. To learn more about types and benefits of membership visit NAP Membership.
